About psychotherapy...
While each individual's unique set of circumstances requires a similarly unique treatment approach, I believe an essential goal of psychotherapy is to increase self-awareness. In doing so, one is able to actively identify and alter the problematic patterns of thought, emotion and behavior which have interfered with living a more fulfilling life. A successful course of psychotherapy can be expected to improve the quality and satisfaction of one's relationships and work life, provide symptom relief and instill lasting change.
In addition to my training in Clinical Psychology, I am also involved in advanced training in Psychoanalysis, a comprehensive, intensive form of treatment, which offers a more profound understanding of the conscious and unconscious reasons for an individual’s emotional problems and facilitates further psychological growth. The commitment of psychoanalytic treatment, to a more thorough appreciation for and understanding of the individual and how he or she experiences the world, greatly informs my general approach to psychological work.
